Independent evaluation

Independent evaluators both in the United States and around the world have recommended credit or recognition for Cambridge International AS & A Level courses and exams.

  • American Council on Education (ACE) recommends granting credit for grades of E(e) or higher for over 25 Cambridge International AS & A Level exams. Additional exam reviews are in progress.
  • AACRAO (PDF, 178KB) regards Cambridge International AS & A Levels as “comparable to completion of introductory-level undergraduate (university) in the United States.”
  • International Education Evaluations (IEE) considers Cambridge International AS & A Level curriculum to be on par with introductory (100-level) university studies. IEE states, "We recommend 5 semester credits for each standalone or terminal AS-level subject passed with E grade or higher, and 10 semester credits for each A-level subject passed with E grade or higher.”
  • International Education Research Foundation (IERF) has conducted hundreds of assessments of Cambridge students and has reported that for “AS and A Levels, we recommend advanced standing university-level credit.”
  • World Education Services (WES) recommends eight US semester credits per A level subject as they consider it completion of two consecutive, first-year undergraduate courses in a given subject (e.g. Math 101 and Math 102). “As AS-levels are taken after the first year of sixth form... we recommend four U.S. semester credits per applicable subject.”
