Guide to teaching and learning documents

Cambridge materials may have a name or format that is unfamiliar to US teachers. Below we explain what to expect in each type of resource and point to where it’s typically found.

  1. Syllabus

Syllabuses explain what your learners need to know, what they must be able to do, and how they will be assessed.

    Find them:

    • Programs and qualifications
    • School Support Hub
  2. Teacher guides

Get guidance on planning the course, example lesson plans and templates, and preparing students for assessment.

    Find them:

    • School Support Hub
  3. Past papers (exams)

One past paper for each subject is publicly available. Teachers can get many more past papers and specimen papers (example papers that have not been used in a past exam series) on the School Support Hub.

    Find them:

    • Programs and qualifications
    • School Support Hub
  4. Mark scheme (rubric)

For papers (exams), mark schemes tell you what an examiner expects from an answer in order to award marks.

    Find them:

    • School Support Hub
  5. Schemes of work

Like unit plans, schemes of work suggest a teaching sequence, activities for the classroom, and past paper exam resources.

    Find them:

    • School Support Hub
  6. Mapping documents

For Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary, these documents map course learning objectives to Common Core State Standards.

    Find them:

    • Cambridge Primary support
    • Cambridge Lower Secondary support
